SASH WINDOW RESTORATION GRADE II LISTED BUILDING, GLASTONBURY

We recently completed a sash window restoration project at a Grade II listed building in Glastonbury, where maintaining the original character was essential. the property had three traditional timber sash windows that had deteriorated over time due to age, weather exposure and years of paint build-up. The windows were no longer operating smoothly and areas of the timber required repair. Our work focused on carefully restoring the original windows while preserving the historic features required for a listed property.

Work carried out:

  • Restoration of three traditional sash windows

  • Removal of excessive paint build-up

  • Timber repairs to damaged sections

  • Installation of new sash cords

  • Realignment and balancing of the sashes

  • Preparation and repainting of the frames

  • Ensuring the work remained sympathetic to the Grade II listed building

The finished result restored the appearance of the windows while ensuring they now open and close smoothly and are protected for years to come, all while maintaining the traditional character of the property.
